Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings which, as we briefly discussed in class, has a direct link to the Anglo-Saxon people. Furthermore, many of the characters, quests, powers, architecture, and themes are based off of J.R.R. Although the game is mainly based off of Scandinavian/Norse mythology, there are many ties to the Anglo-Saxon people as well. One of the many reasons this game took so long to develop was the creator’s intent to make the historical aspects as accurate as possible. This has a reason!įor anyone who don’t know, Skyrim is an open world action role playing video game where a player character has to improve personal skills by completing tasks and quests. I just saw this post point out that while reading Beowulf, themes of Skyrim come to mind.
